This contest, initiated by the city of Stockholm, rewards excellence in information technology projects. There were over 700 entries to the 11 categories, from over 60 countries.

The web-site developed by Brian Brown is a simple, self paced, self tested learning experience which was initially intended to support the institute's internal information technology students.

It now attracts 25,000 visitors a week. It can be accessed at www.cit.ac.nz/smac/csware.htm.

Brian and his team have since developed the project further to include a CDROM version, which has been purchased by universities around the world.
