- In 2000, helped develop the UAE Educational IT Challenge, a national competition designed to promote the use of IT in UAE classrooms.
- Pioneered e-learning in New Zealand - In 1995 started a web-based project "Lifelong learning on the World Wide Web" of 23 online courses, attracting over 25,000 unique visitors each week, mirrored in 14 locations over the world, translated into numerous languages, and used by over 340 leading Universities world-wide
- Internationall recognized for leading work in e-education - Winner, lifelong learning, Global Bangemann challenge (1999), a global competition, and collected the trophy from the King of Sweden in the Nobel hall in Stockholm
- Member of the international jury (2000 & 2002) for the Global Youth Challenge sponsored by the city of Rome
- Member of organizing committee and overall jury coordinator for the UAE Educational IT Challenge 2002 and 2004
- Member of Symposium steering committee, International e-learning Symposium 2002
- Masters in Communication (1999) at Victoria University
- National award for "Excellence and Innovation in teaching" in 1997 from the Association of Polytechnics in New Zealand (APNZ)
